Goals from Aidan Sopel, Scott Barbour and a Kieran Simpson penalty turned things around for the Broch, after Jags had opened the scoring through Marcus Goodall.

The home side started the game well and Josh Peters robbed Simpson and advanced on goal on nine minutes, but Joe Barbour did well to block his shot and Andrew MacAskill curled the rebound just wide of the far post from 20 yards.

Five minutes later a superb header down from Peters was latched onto by Marcus Goodall, and he swept past Simpson before firing the ball low into the far corner from ten yards for the opener.

Logan Watt missed a good chance for an instant equaliser, heading over from an excellent Barbour cross from the left flank.

The visitors were starting to look threatening, and Sopel raced clear only to be foiled by the advancing Ridgers, with Barbour’s shot from the rebound blocked by Ryan Fyffe.

Sopel did level matters in the 31st minute, taking advantage of hesitancy in the Jags back line to stretch and lob the ball over a stranded Mark Ridgers from the edge of the penalty area.

The Broch went in front four minutes before the break, Simpson getting up highest to nod down Watt’s free kick and Barbour pouncing to control and fire home across Ridgers.

Ridgers kept his team in it a minute later with a tremendous save from Willie West’s stinging drive from 16 yards, but Barbour was ruled to be offside in the build-up.

Sopel almost took advantage of another mix-up in the home defence right at the start of the second half, but Fyffe got back to clear his effort from the danger area.

Barbour the placed a shot wide after being set up by the excellent Sopel, before bringing another good save from Ridgers from a Watt through ball.

The visitors were well on top now and another Barbour blast was parried away by Ridgers and Joe McCabe made a vital clearance from the same player’s in swinging free kick to the back post.

Jags were reduced to ten men midway through the second half, Sam Pugh’s pass blocked fortuitously into the path of Barbour, and he was brought down by Darryl McHardy, who was shown a straight red by referee Nicolson.

Craig Cormack made his home debut when he replaced MacAskill in the 75th minute.

Broch sealed all three points ten minutes from time when Sopel was fouled in the penalty area by Jags substitute Kevin Fraser. Simpson stepped up to place the spot-kick into the bottom right-hand corner and make it three-one.

Another disappointing display from Buckie, they started the game well but too many defensive lapses and missed chances are costing them at the moment. A trip to Christie Park to take on unbeaten Huntly next up…
